Happy Tails Day Care & Pet Resort
Pet Conduct and Requirments
Our goal at Happy Tails is to give your dog(s) a day filled with activities, attention and socialization. It is important that this is a positive experience for every dog who comes to stay with us. To that end, we have established some basic rules that each dog must comply with. Cats visiting us for overnight stays will be housed in special cat condos and will not be in contact with other cats during their stay. However there are a few requirements for them too.
SEX: Spaying or neutering your pet makes them healthier and happier and is very high priority for all of us at Happy Tails. All dogs over six months and cats that come to visit at Happy Tails must be spayed or neutered. One exception to that rule will be for our puppy socialization sessions for puppies under six months of age. Other exceptions may be made by management.
SHOTS: All dogs must have written verification that they are up to date on their vaccinations for Rabies, Distemper-Adenovirus , Parvovirus, and Parainfluenza. Bordatella is recommended but not required. However, Happy Tails can not be held responsible if you choose not to have your dog receive this vaccine and they contract Kennel Cough. The Bordatella must be given at least fourteen days in order to be effective. We will give you reminders when your dog’s vaccinations are due but it is your responsibility to provide on-going verification of current vaccinations.
All cats must have written verification that they are current for FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotraceitis Calicivirus Panleukopenia vaccine) and Rabies vaccinations. We will give you reminders when your cat’s vaccinations are due but it is your responsibility to provide on-going verification of current vaccines.
HEALTH: It is important for all of our visitors to be in good health. If your pet has had a contagious disease within the past 30 days we will require a statement from your Veterinarian that it is safe for them to come to Day Care or to the Pet Resort.
If your pet is on a regular medication, please bring enough so that we can continue their regimen while they are with us. Make sure that the container is marked clearly with their name and dosage instructions.
FLEAS: Fleas are highly transmittable and we will check your pet for fleas at every visit. If we find fleas or ticks, treatment will be applied at the minimum rate of $15.00. We highly recommend monthly flea/tick treatment to avoid any problems.
FOOD: Because your dog’s digestive system can be compromised by a sudden change in food, we ask that you bring their regular food measured into separate meals to ensure the proper amount per meal. Small plastic bags work great for this marked with your dog’s name. For dogs that are spending the night, if there is a special treat that they especially like, you might want to bring some too.
You should also bring food for your cat while they are being boarded. Please put their food in an airtight container marked with their name. If they are used to having both dry and canned food, please bring a supply of both. We will provide dishes.
BEHAVIOR: Your dog will be playing with other dogs for many hours each day. While their play is supervised at all times, there may be an occasion when they receive a nip or scratch. The dogs’ health and safety is our first priority and we will make every effort to avoid this. This is why we require that every dog coming to Happy Tails for Doggie Day Care is evaluated for behavior issues that might affect happy group play. At our discretion, we may permit a less socialized dog to come to Happy Tails where staff will work with them to help them integrate into the group. If a dog’s behavior is deemed unsafe in the group setting, the dog will be removed and not allowed to return for Day Care.
FEES: Fees are due and payable at the end of each day or stay. We accept Mastercard and Visa, cash or check. Discounted packages are provided only if they are paid in advance and are non-refundable.
HOURS of OPERATION: We are open for Day Care Monday through Friday from 7 AM to 6:30 PM (& pm with prior approval). Special events are held on Saturday. For animals that are boarded, drop off and pick up is 9 AM to 11 Am and 1PM to 3 PM. Monday through Friday and 9 AM to 11 AM and 1 to 3PM Saturday and Sunday. We recommend that dogs are dropped off before 3 PM to give them some playtime before going in their rooms for dinner.
RESERVATIONS: Reservations are required. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hour in advance or you will be responsible to pay for the reservation. If you are late for Day Care pick-up there will be a $1 per minute charge after 7 pm. Our staff needs to go home and rest so they are ready to entertain your pets the next day.
